Trump: University Lawsuit Settled So He Can Focus On U.S. Presidency
President-Elect Donald Trump explained on Saturday that he has settled lawsuits surrounding his Trump University real estate classes because he will not have time to continue with the litigation while also being President of the United States.
"I settled the Trump University lawsuit for a small fraction of the potential award because as President I have to focus on our country," Trump tweeted today. "The ONLY bad thing about winning the Presidency is that I did not have the time to go through a long but winning trial on Trump U. Too bad!"
"In 2013, my office sued Donald Trump for swindling thousands of innocent Americans out of millions of dollars through a scheme known as Trump University. New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman stated on Friday regarding the $25 million settlement agreement. "Donald Trump fought us every step of the way, filing baseless charges and fruitless appeals and refusing to settle for even modest amounts of compensation for the victims of his phony university."
During the presidential campaign back in March, Trump had taken a harsher stance against the lawsuits.
"The phony lawsuit against Trump U could have been easily settled by me but I want to go to court," Trump tweeted. "98% approval rating by students. Easy win"
