Brevard Democrats To Protest State Republicans Today

COCOA, Florida -- The Brevard County Democrats and the Space Coast Progressive Alliance will hold an "Awake The State" rally for Brevard County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4th, at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 1 and State Road 520 (King Street).

Organizers say that this is their chance to "awaken our fellow citizens of Brevard to the opening of the Florida state legislative session and the outrageous, regressive, behavior of many of our state representatives and our Governor."

Speakers are expected to "call on Governor Rick Scott and his allies in the Tea Party-controlled Legislature to pass a budget that invests in restoring the middle class, not more corporate giveaways."

The local rally is part of statewide "Awake The State" campaign in 14 cities across Florida.
