Candidate To Run As NPA In Brevard County District 4
BREVARD COUNTY, Florida -- One week after the announcement by Brevard County Commission District 2 candidate Jack Smink that he was dropping out of the Republican primary to run as a No Party Affiliation (NPA) candidate, District 4 Republican primary candidate Randall Victor (Vic) Brungart told Brevard Times in an email on Friday that he also would run as an NPA candidate.
"As a life-long independent thinker, I vote for who I think is the best
candidate, regardless of party affiliation. But, I was a registered
Republican in Brevard County, until today," Brungart said in an email. "I am now a [NPA] candidate for District 4 commissioner for the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners."
If both Smink and Brungart qualify as NPA candidates with the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections, it would mean that the primaries in both Districts would be closed to registered Republican voters only.
District 2 includes Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, Port Canaveral, Cape Canaveral, Avon by the Sea, Cocoa Beach, Snug Harbor, portions of Cocoa and Rockledge and Patrick Air Force Base.
District 4 includes Satellite Beach, Indian Harbour Beach, Eau Gallie, Palm Shores, and portions of Rockledge, Viera, Melbourne, and the southern tip of Merritt Island.
