Port Canaveral To Move Boat Ramps, Build Terminal
PORT
CANAVERAL, Florida -- The Canaveral Port Authority voted unanimously to move the
popular boat ramps located at Freddie Patrick Park next to Grill's
Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar to make room for planned renovations,
expansions, and an added mega cruise ship terminal.
Port Authority CEO John Walsh said that 2 acres of unused green space at Jetty Park will be used for the boat ramps that will be located just east of Cruise Terminal 4. The revised location uses more of the area around Terminal 4 and less of Jetty Park than was previously proposed. Walsh added that a sound wall might be built to insulate Jetty Park campers from the noise of early morning boaters.
Plans for the new terminal include an added 180 parking spaces for customers of The Cove business to make up for the lost parking at Freddie Patrick Park.
