'Justice For Trayvon Martin' March In Melbourne
MELBOURNE, Florida -- A 'Justice For Trayvon Martin' March is being organized by the NAACP of South Brevard, The MLK Coalition, and Pastors
from several churches in the Melbourne, Florida area including: Greater Allen Chapel AME Church,
Kingdom Life Church of God in Christ, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, New Mount Zion
Baptist Church, New Shiloh Christian Center, St. James Missionary Baptist Church, and other organizations.
According to the protest flyer, the purpose of the march is:
"WE STAND WITH OTHERS AROUND THE WORLD DEMANDING
JUSTICE FOR TRAYVON MARTIN GIVEN THE RECENT
ACQUITTAL OF GEORGE ZIMMERMAN WHO STALKED AND
KILLED HIM."
The march is planned to take place beginning at noon on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Melbourne City Hall located at 900 E. Strawbridge Avenue.
Organizers ask that people sign a petition addressed
to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder at the U.S.
Department of Justice, asking him to "open a civil rights case against George Zimmerman for this
egregious human rights violation."
Organizers say that the NAACP petition
against George Zimmerman has collected more than 1 million
signatures which can be found here.
