Protest For Florida Voting Reform Tuesday

VIERA, Florida – According to event organizers, a protest to "join a statewide backlash against Gov. Rick Scott and the Florida Legislature’s undemocratic, anti-middle class policies by taking to the streets and demanding that lawmakers undo the damage of their restrictive 2011 voting law" will take place in front of the Brevard County School Board Building in Viera from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.

The so-called ‘Awake The State’ rally demands that the Florida legislature ‘Free the Vote’ because the law’s voting changes "led to last year’s general election fiasco when Floridians waited in line for up to eight hours to cast their ballots, turning Florida into nationwide punch line."

Awake the State started in 2011 as a Facebook page and now has its own website put together by Progress Florida, Florida Watch Action and America Votes.
