Brevard County Election Recounts Tuesday

Two Brevard County races have triggered a recount.  Pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section 102.141 (7), the Brevard County Canvassing Board has ordered a machine recount of the Titusville City Council Seat 2 and Viera East Group 5 races from the November 6, 2012 General Election. 

The Canvassing Board will convene at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 to conduct the Official Logic and Accuracy Test for the Viera East Group 5 race between David Bedwell and Jo Walsh.  The machine recount will commence immediately following the conclusion of the Logic and Accuracy Test. 

The Canvassing Board will reconvene at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 to conduct the Official Logic and Accuracy Test for the Titusville City Council Seat 2 race between Matthew Barringer and Marth Jane Long.  The machine recount will commence immediately following the conclusion of the Logic and Accuracy Test. 

Meetings of the Canvassing Board are held at the Supervisor of Elections Office, Viera Government Center, 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Building C. The meeting is open to the press, public, political parties, and candidates. The Brevard County Canvassing Board is comprised of Board Chairwoman and Brevard County Court Judge Kelly McKibben, Brevard County Commissioner Chuck Nelson, and Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott. 

Pursuant to 286.0105, Florida Statutes, persons wishing to appeal decisions of this board may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
