DAVIE, Florida -- The first and only scheduled Florida U.S. Senate
Debate between U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) and U.S. Representative
Connie Mack IV (R-FL) took place last night beginning at 7 p.m.
Eastern Time / 6 p.m. Central Time.

Space and the U.S. Space Program was not a topic during last night's Florida Senate debate. Nelson made one statement regarding Mack voting against a NASA bill. However, Nelson's statement was made when the question and allotted debate time was for the topic of continuing the Embargo against Cuba. Mack responded to the Embargo question without being pulled off-topic by Nelson on space. Both candidates supported continuing the Embargo.
Nelson also referred to his Space Shuttle flight in his closing statement.
The most recent Real Clear Politics average of polls has Nelson with a comfortable lead over Mack at 47.5% to
40.8%.
