Ware, Mahaney Win Brevard County Commissioners' Viewer Poll
VIERA, Florida -- Republican candidate
for Brevard County Commission - District 1, Richard Ware (R), beat incumbent Robin L. Fisher (D) in the Brevard Times viewer
poll, 50.4% to 44.5%, respectively. Fisher's 44.5% showing was the strongest any Democrat has had in any of the previous Brevard Times viewer polls. Non-party affiliated candidate Dwight Seigler placed a distant third with 5% of the votes cast for District 1.
Republican candidate
for Brevard County Commission - District 3, Jason B. Mahaney, won the Brevard Times viewer
poll against incumbent and fellow Republican Trudie J. Infantini 46.3% to 16.5%, respectively. Democratic challenger Joe "Pish" Pishgar also edged out Infantini with 21.3% of the vote, placing second. Another Republican challenger, Helen Voltz, placed fourth with 15.9% of the vote.
Of the four viewer polls conducted by
Brevard Times so far, the results are in line with in-person straw polls conducted at political events in recent months.
Like a straw poll, the viewer poll is
unscientific and cannot be given any weight as to how voters will
actually vote come Election Day. However, it can indicate the level of
energy and enthusiasm political activists have for a particular
candidate.
Energy and enthusiasm is especially
important at this point in the county races such as Brevard County Commissioner, Clerk of Court,
Sheriff, and Property Appraiser because the viewer poll can indicate the
number of campaign volunteers holding signs at voting precincts and
traffic intersections leading up to, and on Election Day.
A new Brevard Times' viewer poll, for Canaveral Port Authority Districts 2 and 4 begins today.
