What makes you the best candidate in 300 words or less?

I have been on the Grant-Valkaria Town Council since incorporation and serving out my second term.  In 2009 we set the operating millage rate and have had no tax increases. We have one of the lowest tax rates in Brevard and are debt free.  Having been an Elected Official with Local Government since 2006, I have long worked for positive change in Brevard County. I will bring fresh ideas and positive solutions to the Commission.

Job creation is the biggest challenge facing the County today. I will be responsive and quick to react when new businesses show interest in coming to the County and help existing businesses grow. We will need to offer tax abatements to new businesses and give our existing businesses the same opportunity when expanding. We need to make sure when we advertise ourselves to the world, they want to bring their business to Brevard. We must be business friendly in our day to day operations and show that the County is willing to work with them.
The spending of public money should be looked at the same whether the economy is struggling or not. It is the County’s responsibility to furnish essential public services. I will look at every service to see where they are being utilized and cut the spending in each department where available. I will work to cut excess spending, not the services being utilized. When a potential cut is identified I will bring it to the other Commissioners so a decision can be made on each item, not an across the board cut.

It is time to represent the residents! The most effective and quickest way to make changes in government is to put new people in office with new ideas. Voting the same people in office gives you the same results!
