Court O.K.'s Florida Voter Purge
TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- U.S. District Court Judge Robert Hinkle ruled against the U.S. Department of Justice and in favor of the State of Florida in a lawsuit brought by the DOJ to halt the purge of unlawfully registered voters in the Sunshine State.
"We are pleased with today's decision because it is further confirmation
that we are doing the right thing and following the law," said Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner. "The court
agreed that identifying ineligible voters who have never had a right to
vote will help prevent the votes of eligible citizens from being
neutralized. We will continue to seek access to the federal SAVE
database to support our efforts to ensure the accuracy of Florida's
voter rolls."
