Ron Paul Denies Collusion With Mitt Romney
The Ron Paul 2012 campaign felt it was necessary to issue a press release after several media reports suggested that the Ron Paul campaign was colluding with the Mitt Romney 2012 campaign.
The first prominent mainstream media article to make this suggestion was a Washington Post article published February 1st. The media frenzy has spiraled where the Washing Post has issued two more articles within the last 24 hours suggesting such an alliance.
On the RonPaul2012.com website, Jack Hunter published an article titled '“VP” Rand Paul and the Imaginary Romney/Paul Connection.' In that article, Hunter said that:
"The media speculation about some supposed cooperation
between the Ron Paul campaign and Mitt Romney has gotten completely out
of hand. Ron Paul is running for President of the United
States. His son, Sen. Rand Paul, is supporting his father’s run for
President of the United States. That’s all that’s going on here. There
is no secret “conspiracy.”"
The suggested alliance between the Paul and Romney camps should be put to rest or confirmed during the Virginia Republican Presidential Primary on March 6 where only those two candidates will appear on the Super Tuesday State's ballot.
In the Virgina race, the strange bed-fellow alliance would be that both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum supporters go out an vote for Paul in order to deny Romney a winner-take-all victory in delegates from that state. There are already rumors that the Gingrich camp is loosely promoting such a strategy.
