Santorum To Leave Florida, About To Drop Out Of GOP Race?

MELBOURNE, Florida  -- Republican Presidential Primary candidate Rick Santorum campaign announced in Naples, Florida yesterday that the Pennsylvania Senator will be leaving Florida after the CNN Florida Republican Presidential Primary debate tonight.

The Santorum campaign has canceled his scheduled trip to attend a Tiger Bay luncheon in Brevard County on Saturday, and has also canceled a visit to Lake City scheduled for today.

Santorum's campaign website has no upcoming events published after today in Florida.

As stated by Brevard Times four days ago, Florida would probably be the end of the road for the Santorum presidential campaign.  He was unable to fully capitalize on his Iowa win because Romney was mistakenly named the winner of that state.  Without a second place win in South Carolina, Santorum will be hard pressed to be able to raise the much needed money for a Florida campaign.

UPDATE: Rick Santorum's website now indicates that he will return to South Florida on Sunday January 29, 2012.

SECOND UPDATE: Rick Santorum has canceled his Sunday campaign events after admitting his daughter to the hospital.
