Brevard Republican Registered Voter Numbers Swell Before GOP Primary

VIERA, FL — The ranks of registered Republican voters have increased at twice the rate of Democrats in Brevard County since November 2011 just ahead of the early Florida Republican Presidential Primary.

Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. is the deadline to register to vote for the 2012 Republican Presidential Preference Primary and the Cape Canaveral Special Election scheduled for January 31, 2012.

Voters who submit registration applications after January 3rd will have their application processed but will not be eligible to vote in the January 31st Election.

Voters also have until January 3rd to make any changes to their political party affiliation.

“Since Florida is a closed primary state and this election is a Republican Primary, only voters registered as Republicans by January 3, 2012 will be eligible to participate in the Republican Presidential Preference Primary,” explained Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott.  “The Cape Canaveral Special Election is a non‐partisan election and therefore open to all registered voters who reside within the city limits of Cape Canaveral.”

In November 2011, there were:
153,666 Republicans, 127,136 Democrats, 76,968 Other/NPA.

As of January 3, 2012, there are:
154,415 Republicans, 127,436 Democrats, 77,420 Other/NPA.

Difference:
+749 Republicans       +300 Democrats    +452 Other/NPA.
