Newt Gingrich Endorsed By New Hampshire Union Leader

Republican Presidential Primary candidate and former Speaker of the House New Gingrich gained the endorsement of the New Hampshire Union Leader, the most influential conservative newspaper in New Hampshire.

An excerpt of the endorsement is now prominently displayed on Newt Gingrich's official campaign website.

Appearing to allude to the Republican political elite's preference of Mitt Romney without actually naming him, the endorsement states in part:

"Readers of the Union Leader and Sunday News know that we don't back candidates based on popularity polls or big-shot backers. We look for conservatives of courage and conviction who are independent-minded, grounded in their core beliefs about this nation and its people, and best equipped for the job."

Again, appearing to allude to the grass roots popularity of Ron Paul without actually naming him either, the endorsement states in part:

"Newt Gingrich is by no means the perfect candidate. But Republican primary voters too often make the mistake of preferring an unattainable ideal to the best candidate who is actually running."
